mission & outreach

Our churches are active in supporting those who may be in need. We support local organizations, such as the Essex Food Bank, the Downtown Mission, and Gesstwood Camp, as well as global organizations and mission projects. If your organization would like our support, please contact the church office at bmg.uc@sympatico.ca.

Established in 1983, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a Canadian-based Christian organization that helps provide food and development assistance to people in need on behalf of our 13 Canadian church members.

Ruthven-Olinda United Church has been supporting the Callebasse Christian School in Haiti since 2001 by raising funds to build a school and pay for teachers. With everyone's support, approximately 70 children are supplied with a school uniform, learn to read and write, study the Bible, and are given a hot meal every day for lunch. For the latest on the missions of John Blair and his team, please visit their website.
Founded in the 1990's by Eileen & Ed Clifford, the Essex Food Bank provides food and clothing to needy families in our own community. Thank you to over 50 volunteers who help to run the organization! The Food Bank is open on Tuesdays & Thursdays and feeds over 80 families each day. To make a donation of money, clothing and/or non-perishable food items, please visit the Food Bank on the second floor at Essex District High School.

Our vision is a world where every last person trapped in poverty by disability is set free for life, by the power of God's love in action. CBM's goal is to find, care for, and work alongside these people, giving them hope, and opportunity, taking whole families and communities out of grinding poverty and building a bridge between them and mainstream society.

"The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor." ---Matthew 11:5
